Pennsylvania’s Route 6 Artisan Trail

Traveling on Route 6 across northern Pennsylvania, a string of small communities greets you. Each town has its own character. The unique personality of each community is the result of a refreshing mix of artisan shops, artist studios and locally run businesses set in the rural and wild landscapes of our mountains, fields and rivers. This is not the land of large chain stores! Pop’s Culture Shoppe is proud to promote the rural, small-town character of our region, and to support all forms of the arts and creativity. Come see our collection of puzzles featuring regional photographers, comics and books by local authors, and games and toys by area designers.

The Wilds Cooperative of Pennsylvania

The Wilds Cooperative of Pennsylvania is proud to be building an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Pennsylvania Wilds with the aim of helping our creative makers and businesses network, learn from each other, and bring products to market that reflect our region’s natural beauty, bounty and rural traditions while giving an economic boost to our communities.  Pop’s is excited to be a part of the PA Wilds Coop and welcomes new product ideas that mesh with the mission of this organization and with our mission of encouraging creative play and social interaction.  Our exclusive puzzles of local scenery by area photographers, and Pennsylvania crafted wooden toys and games are just some examples of how we combine these missions.

Wellsboro Area School District

•    Pop’s donates to various school fundraisers throughout the year, and also provides teacher discounts every day.
•    Pop’s has a specific mission to encourage creative thinking and to support the arts.  To that end, Pop’s attends the annual WASD art show and sets up an activity table that encourages the public to “play creatively.”
•    We have made special efforts to support the district’s STING program.  At Pop’s we strive to create an environment of respect and good sportsmanship, and we discovered that our Playroom Rules have much in common with WASD STING guidelines.   We support the goals of Wellsboro Area School District’s STING program by reinforcing STING guidelines at our shop and have also held a fundraiser specifically to raise awareness of bullying, and donated proceeds to the STING program.
•    Pop’s believes in living a healthy, active lifestyle and encourages outdoor, as well as table top play.  As a former tennis coach, Julian helps out during girls’ and boys’ tennis team practices whenever possible.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Twin Tiers

“You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.”  This quote by Plato points to play as means of mentoring, and we’ve been privileged to witness many great interactions over board games in Pop’s Playroom.  Pop’s encourages Bigs to bring their Littles in to “Pop’s Playroom” as a great way to bond over a casual game and socialize with others.  Anja serves on the BBBS Tioga County Advisory Board, and Pop’s actively participates in fundraising and other support for BBBS in our area.

Wellsboro Community Concert Association

The Wellsboro Community Concert Association started in 1947, but the history of the national organization goes back to the 1920s when the founding idea was to bring the performing arts to rural America, and to raise the needed money in advance by selling season tickets. The national organization survived both the Great Depression and World War II, and by the 1950s there were more than 1,000 local associations. Community Concert Associations continue to flourish today, bringing the magic of high quality, live performance to small towns across the United States, including Wellsboro.  Julian is a member of the Board of Directors of the WCCA which consists of unpaid volunteers from Tioga and surrounding counties. They are committed to helping the Arts thrive in our region by presenting high caliber concerts at affordable prices.
