Haspelknecht: The Ruhr Valley

Haspelknect: The Ruhr Valley is an expansion for Haspelknect: The Story of Early Coal Mining, by Thomas Spitzer with Capstone Games. It is a worker-placement, resource-management game for 2 to 4 players, ages 12 and up, with most games lasting about 90 min.

In Haspelknecht: The Story of Early Coal Mining, the first title in Thomas Spitzer's highly acclaimed Coal Trilogy, the players take upon the role of farmers with opportunities to exploit the presence of coal in their lands in the southern part of the Ruhr region of Germany.

In Haspelknecht: The Ruhr Valley coal mining has now become an inherent and lucrative business for farmers in the Ruhr Valley. The tunnels are dug deeper and longer through the use of iron. Water channels are implemented to help drain the pit water. Most of the population earns their living exclusively by mining coal and delivering the black gold to peddlers and the first coal barges cruising the river, which gives its name to the valley and the entire area - the Ruhr.
