We are still fascinated with ancient Egyptian civilization. There are many unanswered questions that still perplex the scientists and engineers of today’s world. You have a chance to relive the life of Egyptian royalty, and play Senet, the favorite game of the pharaohs. There were ancient Senet games found in King Tutankhamon’s tomb. It’s very likely that King Tut played Senet during his short life. Over the centuries, the Senet game evolved into Backgammon - another game of chance and strategy.

In Senet each player has 5 pawns which travel around a 3 by 10 board in an S shaped path. Movement is dictated by the throw sticks. The objective is to bear all of one's pawns off first. There are safe and trap spaces on the board, and players may block each others' progress as in Parchisi. Senet is one of the oldest of man's games but unfortunately it fell out of use for a few thousand years and no ancient rules set has been discovered. Undoubtably another tragic loss resulting from the Library of Alexandria burning to the ground. As a result modern man has made several educated guesses as to the rules which are included in the handsome wooden set.
